A BIT ABOUT ME
A freelance illustrator for over twenty years based in Mid Wales,
I have llustrated of a number of children's books, one of my favourites being
a Welsh translation of the popular Betsy Byars children's title
"The Eighteenth Emergency".
My work has included a wide variety of book illustration, commercial publicity
and privately commissioned caricature along with all manner of workshops
and live cartooning appearances.
An incorrigible caricaturist since school days,
I now rejoice in the privilege of being able to continue this activity
without the danger of being clipped round the ear 'ole by a vigilant teacher.
I have no idea how many people I have drawn over the years but it's a lot!
(you know who you are!)
HOW TO COMMISSION A CARICATURE

To commission a caricature like the example below, all you have to do is send two or three clear photographs and a written description of the persons' character and whatever activities, dress, associations etc, you think I can incorporate into the picture to portray the subject accurately. Be humorous and imaginative but not too rude unless of course, facial bruising is a look you'd like to cultivate. You can send photos in the post which will be returned with the finished caricature or you can email images to the following address.

Prices are inclusive except for postage and packing and I do not provide a framing service.

All art work is despatched in a strengthened package via special delivery and is insured.
All art work is executed on quality heavy weight cartridge or water colour paper.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FOLLOWING PRICES ONLY APPLY TO A CARICATURE OF ONE PERSON ON A WHITE BACKGROUND.
No caricature commissions are undertaken without payment in advance.
YOUR REQUIREMENTS MIGHT BE MORE COMPLICATED.
FOR EXAMPLE, A FULLY ILLUSTRATED SCENE IN THE BACKGROUND OFTEN INVOLVES A LOT MORE WORK AND THE PRICE WILL VARY ACCORDINGLY. AN ADDITIONAL PERSON IN THE SAME PICTURE WILL ONLY COST HALF THE PRICE OF THE FIRST ONE AND THAT APPLIES TO EACH EXTRA LIKENESS THAT YOU WOULD LIKE INCLUDED.
HANDY TIP; point at each picture on the site and a label will appear describing the image type it represents.

you can hire me to draw for you in person.
I produce on the spot cartoons
and am also happy to keep a bunch of kids busy by drawing for them.
I have cartooned at many weddings and events and am a qualified teacher
with plenty of workshop experience.

If you would like me to conduct a caricaturing/book illustration workshop in your school please feel free to contact me to discuss the ideal session structure. Sessions are suitable for Key Stage 2 upward. You may be interested to know that I am a qualified teacher and have taught and conducted workshops with classes ranging from KS 2 to Art Foundation Studies and Adult evening classes. I can conduct a standard introduction to illustration and caricaturing or tailor a session for a specific project or syllabus tie-in.

Heath Robinson, Norman Thelwell, Quentin Blake, Ernest Shepherd, Theodor SEUSS Geisel,
Ronald Searle, Ralf Steadman, John Glashan, Karl Giles, Charles M Shulz, Beatrix Potter, Gerard Hoffnung,
Rolf Harris and the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah band with Eric Clapton on Ukelele!
